The story started in March 2021 when some Sancta students, their parents, friends and teachers decided to create the yearly fundraising event at Bunnings Botany.
The aim of the event was to raise funds that allowed the purchase of items towards the 2021 Christmas parcels for the Totara Hospice volunteers. The work continued with students volunteering to make bookmarks during homeroom time or in their spare time throughout the year.
This year, due to Covid restrictions, there was a concern that the volunteers would miss out on what was prepared for them (handmade bookmarks, a tumbler, a face cloth, a chocolate bar) with the cancellation of the yearly Christmas luncheon.
Fortunately, Trina Napier (Volunteer Services manager at Totara Hospice) and our own Dr Laux resolved the issue and made sure that the parcels were dispatched to 200 volunteers working at both the Totara hospice retail shops and the distribution centre.
Thank you to those at Sancta Maria College who made this happen. And thank you to Bunnings Botany, Briscoes and Bed, Bath and Beyond Supa Centre for their ongoing sponsorships and support!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2022!
