Congratulations to Gemma Deftereos and John Purificacion who have been selected as the College’s head prefects for 2017.
Gemma is studying Drama, History, Economics, Statistics, English and Religious Education this year with a view to going on to study either Business or Law at Auckland University. In her role as head prefect Gemma would like to build connections within the student body so no one feels isolated or alone. By growing the established sense of community, Gemma hopes to instill a sense of loyalty and pride in Sancta Maria College, both in what it offers and what it stands for.
John is taking Chemistry, Classics, English, Statistics, P.E. Studies and Religious Education, intending to go on to complete a Science degree at Auckland University, specializing in Medicine based Nutrition. As head prefect he seeks to make sure students treat one another with respect, being part of one College family. He wants to make sure no student is allowed to fall behind and to make sure that even in hard times every student has the support to keep moving forward.
We wish Gemma and John every success in the coming year, which will be an exciting one for them both.
