With weeks of training and Thursday after school games, our Junior Boys and Girls Volleyball teams headed to the Auckland Volleyball Championships in Pulman Arena.
This tournament consisted of several games over the course of three days starting on Thursday 12th November to the Finals on Saturday.
Most of these 12 boys and 9 girls are new to the sport but played with enthusiasm and determination. The results of the 3 long days were:
Day 1: Boys won against Mangere College in 3 sets; lost to De La Selle College
Girls won against Long Bay College; lost to Mangere College and Waitakere College
Day 2: Boys lost to Ormiston Junior College and Rangitoto College, winning against Orewa College
Girls won against Rangitoto College and Botany Downs College; then lost to Carmel College
Day 3: Girls in two very close game lost to Massey High School and One Tree Hill College
During the volleyball season, the two teams improved their serving, setting, spiking, and passing while creating many great memories.
The captains and coaches continuously encouraged the teams to push themselves and persevere despite some challenging games, and the championship resulted in the boys placing a creditable 24th out of 34 teams and the girls 16th out of 48 teams.
