On Tuesday 1 April 2025, a group of students participated in a MITO (Motor Industry Training Organisation) bus tour were provided valuable insight into the diverse career opportunities within the automotive industry.
The first stop was Giltrap Prestige, where students had the unique opportunity to explore luxury vehicles and tour the state-of-the-art facilities, including the motorsport garage. A highlight of the visit was reconnecting with Sancta Maria College Alumni, Milan, who is currently in his third year of an apprenticeship with Porsche. He shared his inspiring journey from high school to working with cutting-edge automotive technology.
After lunch, the group visited the AMI Repair Hub in Onehunga, where technicians manage repairs, maintenance, and recovery services, offering a comprehensive customer experience. The final stop was Truckstops in Penrose, one of New Zealand’s leading service, repair, and parts providers for trucks, buses, and coaches.
This tour was an excellent opportunity for students to gain firsthand exposure to the automotive industry and explore potential career pathways.
Thank you to the Careers Department for facilitating this great day for our students.
