‘Peace Through Dialogue’. This was the theme the Peace Committee followed in order to execute a week full of fun activities to spread peace and love.
Throughout the week, activities such as ‘The Peace Chain,’ and ‘Chalk It Out,’ brought students together as they shared peace. The sausage sizzle and bake sale allowed funds to be raised for Nadeem Ghazi who is working to promote peace in Pakistan.
The members of the Peace Committee attended a Peace Symposium in Western Springs in order to share our peace week experience with other schools from around Auckland. A video presentation was shown of Sancta Maria College’s peace week which covered our peace week activities and gave an inside look into our peer support system. This presentation was met with enthusiasm from peace leaders and students alike who were extremely impressed with the peaceful environment of Sancta Maria College and our busy peace week.
Throughout the day, there were speeches by inspiring peace ambassadors and even a successful paralympian who brought the students inspiration and joy by sharing his journey with us.
The day at the Symposium was very beneficial for the Peace Committee at Sancta Maria as they were able to share their views on peace and meet like-minded students brimming with creativity and passion. The committee looks forward to sharing our schools peace presentation at a full school assembly soon!
