Our school community recognised the hard work and achievements of the senior students with an extra special assembly to commend them on their academic success. In this special assembly, we also recognized those Year 13s who have been appointed to various prefect roles.
Students at Sancta Maria College are encouraged to always try their best and to strive for academic excellence. The students who are listed had to work extra hard in order to be recognized in today’s special assembly. Striving for excellence made students even more determined to set goals to gain this award. To gain an award, our students need to gain the following:
Silver: 50+ excellence credits across all levels.
Gold: 60+ Excellence credits across all levels.
Platinum: 100+ excellence credits across all levels.
Across all of the seniors from 2017, a total of 150 achieved academic honours.
From Level 1 2017, a staggering 20 students gained the highest honour of platinum, 34 students earned the gold award and 11 earned silver. Well Done to the Level One students of 2017.
From Level 2 2017, 6 students earned platinum, 27 gold, and 16 silver.
From our Level 3 graduate students of 2017, 3 students earned platinum, 19 gold, and 14 silver.
Despite their busy schedules, our 2017 Head Girl, Gemma Deftereos, and our 2017 Academic Prefect, Elizabeth Leaning were able to be present to collect their awards.
We congratulate everyone who was recognized in today’s assembly, but we also have to commend those who might have not been recognized but have achieved their own personal goals. We wish those who are doing NCEA this year and onwards, that they may try to achieve personal goals as well as to continue to strive for excellence. We also wish those who have been appointed to prefect roles, that they may use their leadership skills to help our school to show the values of Sancta Maria College.
