Monday 24 March and Tuesday 25 March was time for the annual Science Roadshow. Our junior students were blessed with two fascinating shows: Ballons and Bernoulli and Planet earth, in between these two shows we were given an independent learning opportunity.
The first show explored the magic of pressure; a highlight from this segment was the ear deafening ballon pop caused due to a single pin. The show highlighted how pressure over an area is less effective than pressure over a single segment.
Students were then given 40 minutes to explore the hands-on learning experiences offered by the Science Roadshow team. These activities focused on trees and environment, forces, patters, structures and, detecting! One particularly captivating exhibit was the bed of nails, as students slowly lowered themselves onto the nails, what was anticipated to be excruciating pain turned out to be surprisingly comfortable; an ideal place to take a nap.
The second show focused on planet earth; students learnt about matter cycles, energy flows, and life webs. To demonstrate this the Science Roadshow team shot a potato across the room using different gases.
Overall, the Science Roadshow 2025 was a mind opening experience for our juniors, the two shows preformed captivated students about the magic of science.
Thank you to the helpers, the Science Roadshow team and the science department for creating a fun and interactive learning environment.
