Senior Geography students visit Rotorua

 

As part of their curriculum the Year 12 and 13 Geography students headed to Rotorua to discover what attracts tourists to the famous “RotoVegas’.

Waking up early to be at school sharply at 7.30 the students headed down for an exciting day ahead of them. Firstly, a stop at the Agrodome for the farm show with many tourists from different parts of the world coming to see this one of a kind experience.

Te Puia, Rotorua’s geothermal area and geysers was next on the list. Experiencing the geysers and geothermal activity was an amazing thing to see.

After a busy day venturing around Rotorua, the students went back to their motel to get ready to go out for dinner. Some students even got to experience the Rotorua night markets afterwards before returning for a good night’s sleep in readiness for another jam-packed day ahead of them.

Next day the students attended a talk at the Rotorua Museum about how Rotorua was built on tourism which was the heart of the city’s economy. After the talk, the students headed out for a Duck Tour around the city of Rotorua seeing all the beautiful sites that it had to offer, like the amazing and astonishing lakes.

In the afternoon the students got on the bus and headed back on the long trip home after two intense, tiring and exciting days.
