Like many events this year, Stand Up Stand Out – Auckland Council’s major school talent competition – has been forced to go online, but this did not stop our young musicians from rehearsing, performing and recording eight entries in to this year’s competition.
Two pop bands (Year 10s Alofa Lahi and Year 7s The Jazz Ducks), one chamber group (The Elan Ensemble) and five solo singers (Hannah Dangatan, Marina Jones, Camilla Isip, Harini Pushpakumar and Jessa Calacsan) all spent two busy hours in the Music Rooms recording their pieces.
The end results were very pleasing and have ensured that Sancta Maria College’s musicians maintain a strong presence in this important annual showcase. Our videos have been submitted to the judges and we look forward to the results!
Hopefully, 2021’s SUSO will have us standing up and standing out in person!
