On Friday, the Year 7s and 8s competed in the annual Stella Maris Shield. All the participants did so well and it was great to see the expertise and enthusiasm from the students.
The students had prepared their items during their RE lessons and were guided by their teachers. The categories were: Drama, English Scripture, Maori Scripture, Filipino Scripture, Religious Seminar, Religious Questions, Religious Art, Song/Spoken Word, Impromptu Speech and Debate. The Song/Spoken Word category is new this year.
A big thank you to Miss Smith for organising this event, the teachers who helped us prepare for the competition and the judges for spending their time to adjudicate the items. The winning homeroom will be announced at the Year 7 and 8 prizegiving. The Year 7s will be able to use the experience to compete in the Stella Maris Shield next year and the Year 8s will be eligible for the inter school Pompallier Shield. The whole experience was great fun and we can’t wait until next year.
