Another great week of summer sport at Sancta Maria saw some headline results.
The Senior Girls’ touch rugby team participated in the Central/South/East Zone Touch Tournament where they secured a fantastic result in finishing third, whilst Caleb Stephens came out of the AKSS Aquathon Tournament with a wonderful result of fifth place.
Caleb and his sister Paris represented the college at the Auckland Secondary Schools Aquathon tournament at St Kentigern College. Paris placed a creditable 21st while Caleb secured fifth place against competitive students from schools across the Auckland Region.
A section of triathlon, Aquathon is a multisport race where competitors complete a swim immediately followed by a run over various distances as athletes compete to get the fastest time possible. Caleb took part in the Junior Boys (U14) competition having the fifth fastest time while Paris participated in the Intermediate Girls (U16) competition where she came 21st. The school is proud of Paris and Caleb’s tremendous achievements.
The Senior Girls’ touch rugby team also represented the college at Coxs Bay Reserve to participate in the Central/South/East Zone Touch tournament where they placed an incredible third out of schools around Central, Eastern and South Auckland.
We come closer to the end of the Summer Sports Season as many of our major winter codes are undergoing trials to select their teams for next term.
This past week, sport has focused mainly on Athletics as some of our students represented the college in the Counties Manukau Zone Athletics. Our school has been well represented as some of our students have qualified to participate in the Auckland Secondary Schools Athletics competition.
