Today, the Y7s and 8s took part in our inaugural Stella Maris Shield. This competition was devised by Cuan Pillay (Year 12) and organised and run by a small group of Y12 students who have spent most of the year planning and putting it together.
The younger students took part in a range of activities including scripture reading (an English and Maori section available), debating of the topic ‘The separation of Church and State is preferable’, drama, making a speech and answering questions about the Gospels of Matthew and Luke.
The standard was incredibly high, worthy of much older students. While individual winners were recognised today it is an inter class competition and the winning homeroom will be announced at the Y7 and 8 prize giving on December 12.
