Imprisoned at the age of 13 by the English, 18 years later he is returned to his homeland of Scotland with a ransom held over him and an arranged English bride. This compelling story follows James’ ideas of how he will be a unique and patriotic king of Scotland, different to the rule of England. However, it would seem that what James sets out to do is far more of a struggle than he anticipated which leads him to a determination to bring the rules of law and order to the land-hungry warring families of his kingdom. This poetic period drama was much enjoyed by the enthralled students.
