UNISS Netball closing day

Day 5 of the UNISS tournament concluded with SMC’s netball premier team taking out two wins! The team were playing for a position between 17th-20th and it was results against the teams in their pool that would determine those positions.

The girls played Mahurangi in the morning. The game consisted of fast passing, driving, intercepts and superb communication! It was a very close game, resulting in Sancta Maria winning 26-24. This meant that the team’s final game was for either 17th or 18th place.

The second game was against Saint Mary’s College. This too was a very close game and was the last game of the season, and for the College, for the Year 13 players. The team won 21-18, showing some excellent shooting, control, safe passes, driving and timing. This meant that the team came 17th in their grade (B grade) out of 32 teams, placing 49th out of 128 teams overall!

The team thanks Kathryn Stonehouse (their coach) and Robyn Wallen (their manager) for an awesome week and for all the hard work that they did for the team! A huge thanks also to all the supporters as well (parents, grandparents, teachers and friends that came out and watched the games each day).
