On 19 February 2024, the Year 11 Art students embarked on their trip to the Auckland Museum. The students, along with Ms Simmons and Ms Turner, were ecstatic to go to the city, eager to capture Aotearoa New Zealand artifacts and resources. The Museum encompassed unique collections of Māori and Pacific history, the story of Aotearoa New Zealand, and its people. Our task was to capture as many photos as possible to put towards our final Folio boards at the end of the year.
Students also had the opportunity to visit the enchanting Wintergardens, just a short walk from the Museum. The glass house was brimming with various forms of flowers, plants, trees, and more. There were beautiful sculptures and statues situated at several spots, each revealing a new aspect of the gardens. Using their cameras, students delved into different areas of the Museum and Wintergardens, using techniques they learned prior to the trip.
Despite the blistering hot conditions, the students left feeling satisfied with their photos whilst immersing themselves in New Zealand’s culture and scenery. This experience enhanced the students’ photography skills and helped to garner a vast amount of inspiration for their board concept.
Thank you to Ms Simmons and Ms Turner for organising and taking care of us on this trip.
