Year 11 Peer Support Leaders are coming your way!

Winnie Zou and Audrey Basilio

2025 Sancta Maria College Year 11 Peer Support Leaders came together before the start of the school year for an immersive Peer Support training day to further our knowledge and develop necessary leadership skills for our roles as Peer Support leaders in 2025.

Through these sessions, which were held before school on Thursdays and after school on Tuesdays, we explored how to be a role model from the perspective of Mother Mary, and how we can show an example of her towards our junior school (specifically for Year 7s). Our training allowed us to learn about team building and how to cooperate with each other. Learning these skills enabled us to practically prepare ourselves for the bigger challenge which is being friends and a peer support to our new Year 7s.

However, through this intense training, comes great responsibility. We must stay 100% committed and trusting within our learning that we can do great and make this year’s peer support a success for our Year 7 students.

By doing so, we can help build bonds with them to help them express their inner confidence, learn and understand each of our peers, explore school values and always strive for excellence.

Overall, the Year 11 Peer Support Leaders are about to make an amazing peer support year a great success through being a role model of Mary, and to express great leadership skills towards our junior school through a regular timetable of meetings with the students and attending the weekly planning-feedback-feedforward sessions.

We look forward our year ahead.
