The Year 11s have completed their Peer Support training and are raring to go!
The training sessions were two full days last year and two after-school sessions this year. This covered various leadership skills and included writing a pepeha, a Maori personal introduction.
The group is divided into teams and each team is allocated a buddy Year 7 homeroom. Every Friday we will visit our buddy junior class and execute planned activities, each of which have a theme. This programme is designed to help the Year 7s feel welcome at Sancta Maria. We will be like an older brother or sister to the younger peers at our school.
Our first session began last week and had the theme “Everyone is unique and important”. We introduced ourselves and did activities with our buddy homeroom like ‘find someone who has….’
