The Year 13 Painting, Design, Photography and Sculpture students along with Year 12 Art and Design students took a trip to the Auckland Art Gallery which was an enlightening and inspiring experience.
A workshop was organised by the Gallery Educators and students engaged generously with curiosity and mature discussion about the established practices of contemporary artists.
A highlight was the Ann Shelton exhibition titled ‘Dark Matter’. This was an exciting collection of photographs which captured our students’ interest due to their large size and interesting subject matter.
Students also had a chance to look at other galleries in the area which had a variety of work on display. This allowed them to explore a variety of styles with the favourite being the new photography pieces.
The students were exceptionally intuitive and had an amazing experience immersing themselves in the art world. They all thoroughly enjoyed this day as it gave them the opportunity to bond with their friends, while appreciating and gaining inspiration for their own art.
