Year 7-10s conquer the cross-country course

Andrea Araza

On 26 July 2024, our Year 7-10 ran their hearts out for the annual cross country held at school over a 3km track, filled with a mix of grit and exhilaration.

Runners pushed their limits, fuelled by the cheers of their peers and the drive to cross the finish line. As the final runners accomplished the race and the last cheers echoed across the field, the sunny day ended with a successful triumph from every runner.

Hokianga pride was strengthened with their win with a mighty 790 points, followed by Watematā with 670 points, Akaroa in third with 560 points, and Kororāreka with 310 points.

Our top Year 7 & 8 runners then represented the school in the South Eastern Zone Cross Country on Thursday 15 August at Barry Curtis Park.  Congratulations to all of the students that participated in this year’s cross country, and a big thank you to everyone involved in organising it.
